Anyone in the Ithaca area have a stroller they no longer need that they'd care to offer to a friend at low or no cost? The youngster who needs one is a little over two, I believe.

Anyone in the Bay Area (or anywhere who wouldn't mind shipping) have an unneeded but working phone for the AT&T wireless network? Again, low or no cost? (Recipient would certainly pay for shipping.) A friend in SF is hoping to buy a new iPhone later this summer, but meanwhile her phone died and she needs something -- really, anything -- to tide her over. I'd give her one of my old phones, but they're all CDMA for Verizon Wireless, and she needs GSM for AT&T.

Freecycle, man. www.freecycle.org

You can post WANTED messages for these items and there is a good chance someone will have what you need.

I'm not sure what state our old ones are, but I'm sure we've got something around.

OTOH, I may not have time 'till next weekend to scare something up. Tell 'em if they don't find something elsewhere first to drop me a line and I'll go seeking next weekend.

I always forget - does AT&T use the smae type of phone as Tmobile with SIM cards?

Because if they do, I have a brand new nokia music phone she is welcome to have for free. I received it as part of a settlement with TMobile when they gave me awful service and a damaged phone, but by the time I received it I was so disgusted at the way I had been treated I went with another company. So if its useful, its hers.

In order for her to use the phone, it would need to be unlocked from the T-mobile network.

Random, I know, but do you have any idea how much a iPhone plan is per month (like phone plus data)?

My understanding is (and I haven't read all the "official" stuff from at&t -- and I should soon since I work for 'em) is that it'll be $10 more than the plans now at:

$30 for unlimited data plus 200 msg

$40 for unlimited data plus 1500 msg

$50 for unlimited data plus unlimited msg

Feel free to ask any at&t questions -- that's my job, answer questions (and collect money!)

Tell her that she can get a $40 Nokia 2610 from any AT&T store.

Doesn't have a camera but it's a good little phone.

Will it require a contract that will pose a problem when she wants to buy an iPhone in a month or two?
allyson13 From: allyson13 Date: June 16th, 2008 05:08 am (UTC) (Link)
No contract.

It's being sold for times like these when customers can't upgrade or they don't have insurance.
