I just slept for ten hours!
It was probably a combination of the packed weekend and being up past 3am on Tuesday night, but last night after a great dinner with J.C. and Dan, despite the cup of coffee, I started to feel quite tired. I was too lazy to go watch the fireworks from across the street, and ended up going to bed at 10 after I realized my eyes were closing whether I liked it or not. I woke up briefly around 5:20am, but fell back to sleep and didn't wake up until my alarm went off at 8.

Dinner at the Antlers was a pleasant surprise; I've always thought of it as a decent but not that great place, but they really impressed me last night. It wasn't cheap by any means, but it seemed reasonable for what we got, and the food was top notch. My roast duck, especially, was great! More about that in 14850_dining soon, with pictures!

I was going to mention Antlers a couple of posts back; their baby back ribs appetizer is also excellent, as are their soups. Yum!

Ive always been a fan of the Antlers. It is, of course, where Chris proposed... but why should I let that throw me?

I had fond memories of a dinner there with you two -- but I enjoyed the company much more than the food!

I've always been quite pleased with Antlers. I'm a creature of habit and almost always get the same thing - either a bowl of seafood chowder or an appetizer salad (they've got one with apples and stuff that's great) and the London Broil as the main course, with creme brulee as dessert. No, it's not an inexpensive meal, but it is, IMHO, one of the finest dining experiences in the area.

Let me know when you want to go back. There was no seafood chowder; I looked. Dan seemed to enjoy his lobster bisque, and J.C. loves the tomato mozzarella soup special. But I'll try the salad next time; I considered that but went with the (good but underspiced) crab cake.

I think the last time we were there, talkingmute12 had the horseradish-encrusted fish (don't recall if it was a tuna or salmon steak). She liked it, I didn't care for the fish, although the horseradish was good... :-)

One of these nights we will definitely be heading back there.
