Cassie Friends' New House

I popped up to Trumansburg this afternoon for a tour of the new house, and to meet the new eleven-week-old yellow lab puppy. She's so cute! But you probably figured that part out. :-) She's also really sharp and pointy, and of course playful. She's a perfect match for Paul!

The house, which Chris calls a "saltbox" even though I don't think I'd ever heard that term before, is gorgeous! The outside looked great in the vanishing light as I arrived, and I love the inside with its lots of wood, plus tin panels. A good bit of cool, reclaimed materials in the construction, I gather.

Saltboxes are a traditional style of architecture often found in New England, from the colonial era, so named because salt used to be kept in wooden boxes shaped very like those houses. They are often rare and neat historical artifacts!

I want to see more of that house. It's gorgeous and you have the perfect lighting for that picture. Awesome.

I didn't take many interior shots, but there are a few more house pictures on my Flickr.

I wanna be invited to THAT housewarming party (even though I don't know whom you're referring to!). Adorable puppy and awesome house!

Longtime friends and now coworkers whom I think you'd like. If they invite you, will you come? :-)

We're definitely throwing a housewarming party after we're settled. We just closed on December 23rd, so most of our things are still in boxes here and there. I'll post when we're settled in a bit more! Thank you for the nice words about the new place!

I love that house. And I want to romp with that puppy in a big backyard.

Great pic. Every time I see a beautiful, classic house like that in some little Upstate town with a bizarre name like Schuylerkatterkillisburg I wonder why I don't live in upper New England. But then I spend an hour outside in Vermont in January and I remember. :)

Yeah, saltbox houses are the norm around here. I don't think I've ever seen one in New York though. They are my favorite style of house and I am very jealous of your friend. :)
