Not this time...
PotentialThe person who wanted to use my White House photo in an Obama-themed calendar ended up not using it, but wants to send me a copy of the calendar for my trouble. I think that's nice!

Meantime, here's a random photo I took this week, a "glamour shot" of the empty coffee cups next to the self-serve coffee urns at the [info]Queen of Tarts. I call it "Potential." :-) Can't get over the light.

I'm trying to take more just-random photos to expand on my usual heavy stream of food and hockey pictures. We'll see how it goes.

My naked ass?

I've had a recent interest in some tasteful non-objectivist nude work...

Non-objectivist? As in, anti-Ayn Rand?

No, I'm good with Ayn Rand. Nonobjectivist in the sense of not like, portraiture. More abstract as opposed to accurately trying to represent or capture an actual person at a particular moment.

I'm guessing fabunobo's naked ass would not qualify as tasteful. How are you defining non-objectivist in this context?

Well, I might be using the term wrongly, but "objective" art as I recall was art that is representing an actual thing - the house on the hill is drawn to accurately depict how a person would perceive the house on the hill.

I think of nonobjective art as the opposite of that - either because its truly abstract, or because the intent is not to depict the object (or person, or landscape) with photographic reproductive quality. The sort of thing that you look at and it's all line, and color, and depth and motion. I particular enjoy that experience when -- through angle or resolution or other artifact -- you're looking at an actual rendering of an actual thing, but in a way that you've never seen it before, so you don't quite recognize it.

"Potential" is good.

My photographic goal for 2009

is to take more glamor shots of erect female nippleage. Good reason to buy a macro lens and a ring flash.
