One last hockey night
Though I've been aware of the Cornell Hockey Association banquet for several years, last night's was the first one I went to. I've gotten to know a lot more of the players and their families, and joining the Coach's Club level of the CHA gave me two free tickets to the banquet, so I decided I might as well go.

John's StoolIt ended up being a fun evening at the Lakewatch Inn (though I was disappointed keeyoo wasn't bartending), with speeches and awards and each senior getting a chance to talk for a bit. The highlight of the evening, though, was the next few hours at Dunbar's, culminating after the bar closed and most of the random drinkers were gone with the dedication of the latest barstool to John Kennedy, father of players Pat and Mike Kennedy. (I got to sit with them at dinner.)

After that, I got pulled along to the nearby afterparty at the hockey house, which was the source of my late-night tweet, amused at people playing beer pong with their moms.

Luckily, I managed to sleep late this morning! That was followed by some fresh matzah brei and coffee and a couple of "Heroes" episodes I needed to catch up on. Editing and posting some tantalizing cheeseburger pictures on Flickr led to a serious burger craving, but that got waylaid by an invitation to try the bacon explosion! Yum.

Interestingly, I had two friends in two different cities who tried the bacon explosion for the first time yesterday!

Well, I would have been except for the presence of a certain person I'd cheerfully beat to a bloody pulp...

Right, right.

Why, in G-d's name, are you eating anything that has even come in contact with matzah? I mean, I can understand matzah brei in November or something where it might make a nice change of pace, but now?

I hadn't gotten around to it yet, there was matzah left, and there wasn't much else in the house to make an omelet with. :-)
