Stranded for Christmas
Apparently, Arrow Trucking has closed down with no warning, and deactivated all of their fleet fuel cards in the process, leaving some 1,400 truckers stranded with no way to buy more fuel for their rigs (without spending their money) or no way to get home.

A lot of other truckers are offering rides to these drivers, and random people are offering meals or a place to stay.

For what it's worth - it's really easy to scream about what assholes these guys are if you've never run a business yourself. The end can come very, very fast, and very, very hard. I don't know for sure that there was no alternative in this case, but it's certainly plausible.

Companies don't just do this kind of thing for the hell of it, and allowing for no other option than, "they just did it because they're dicks" is a rash and prejudiced assumption that suggests a bias against anyone who owns a business.

Where did I call them assholes or dicks? Go back and look. They shut down without warning, they deactivated the fuel cards, and the drivers were thus stranded without warning and with no way to go home. No value judgement there, just a crappy situation and a lot of people stepping up to help.

You didn't, but most of the replies to your post did. I was responding to those.
