Shrimp
Defrosted a bag of shrimp Monday for pasta night but didn't end up using it. Obviously, I should use it in the next couple of days.

What should I do with it?

Guess it depends on if it's already pre-cooked or not ?

Cooked - pig out with a vat of cocktail sauce ...
Uncooked - make a chowdahhh.

Yup, cocktail sauce was one of my thoughts! It's one of the bags of pre-cooked peeled-but-tail-on shrimp that's on sale practically every other week. There's always a couple in my freezer.

Damn. Always on sale, eh? Now I'm gonna have to remember to look at Stop & Shop.

Thanks!

Yeah, every week or two, some size or other of frozen bagged shrimp is buy-one-get-one-free.

Great to put on pasta. Warm in a saute pan with some oil and herbs or you favorite white sauce and you're good to go.

Sometimes simplest is best. I'd side with just cocktail sauce.

What should you do with a bag of shrimp?

Get in the car and start driving North until you hit I-90. Then drive East. When you hit the airport, stop, and call me. I'll guide you in on the Silver Line. :-)

That's just one suggestion, but its the one that allows me to indulge in my own brand of cannibalism. :-)

First of all, I prefer the hypotenuse of Route 206 and I-88, thanks. Second, I'm not driving toward the coast during #snowlyshit.

Weirdly enough, with all the attention you've been giving it, I'm not expecting any snow at all here in Boston. I'm still trying to figure that out since the damn storm system is currently covering all of the Carolinas, KY & TN. I'm trying to figure out how its going to go north enough to hit you, but miss me. At worst I'm expecting partially sunny tomorrow. Cold (-4° high), but sunny.

Oh, it's not gonna touch us. I just figure I want to stay out of the coastal path.

If I recall correctly, there was a gumbo recipe in the Times this week... You can substitute the shrimp for the scallops in the recipe.

Stir fry. Or Singapore noodles.

I'm liking the Singapore Noodles idea. I have nearly everything I'd need according to most recipes, except for the bean sprouts.

I vote for what ever Pixel suggests.

Bean sprouts are optional. Pretty much anywhere, I've found.

Whip up a nice alfredo sauce, dump in some vegetables and the shrimp, serve over pasta.

You could also go get yourself some wontons and make some shrimp wontons, fried or in soup.

But...defrosted on Monday...this is Friday. Is it still good?

Oughta be. It's a bag of cooked shrimp. If I open it and it smells too strong, I'll toss it, don't worry. I don't need to compound my nasty cold with an avoidable bout of food poisoning!

shrimp and corn bisque, shrimp brochette...

Ooh, I think I will try the latter next time I have some raw shrimp on hand. Thanks!
