Losing a pound the hard way
Just gave blood for the first time since Labor Day weekend, and as happened last February, my pulse was initially a little too high for their liking. I took some Sudafed this morning pre-emptively; I'm visiting a catful house in a bit. Gotta remember to not take Sudafed before giving blood in the future. Anyway, on the third try, my pulse was just 96 (!) instead of 108 and 102, the first two counts.

Nice to see some packets of raisins beyond the cookies and cheese crackers, since I couldn't have eaten any of those. I don't know if the raisins were explicitly for Passover observers, but I've never seen them before, and I was glad there was something I could eat. (Passover ends at sundown tonight, in three hours and 16 minutes. Not that I'm counting or anything.) I grabbed some chocolate chip cookies for later.

Really, the pound of blood that's just been taken out will be quickly replaced by extra retained water, but my body should kick into high gear to replace everything else, which could result in quicker weight loss.

If you are able to give blood, they're especially looking for double red cell donations right now with O positive, O negative, and AB negative types needed. There's another drive at Biotech tomorrow.
