Whistling Dixie (215.6)
While some of my coworkers have been suffering extended versions of the cold that Joanne so kindly shared with us all, I've been mostly symptom free since getting back from my cousin's bar mitzvah. But as sometimes happens, what little congestion remained has settled in one of my ears. This gets painful fast, and it woke me up at 3:45am. A quick blast of decongestant spray and a 12-hour Sudafed had limited effect, but I think I eventually drifted off again at almost 6, and dozed off and on until I managed to drag my exhausted self out of bed and head to work.

I'll be leaving work early and working from home for the afternoon, since I've got a canine houseguest coming over for the weekend and I don't want to leave her cooped up in a crate all afternoon if I can avoid it. I'm really pleased to see what gorgeous weather we have slated for the weekend! It'll be a pleasure to walk her. I also get their CSA share for the week out of the deal, so I'll run up to Trumansburg sometime this afternoon to pick up some produce. No idea what's in store for me, but I'll probably do some cooking this weekend. Also have to remember to defrost the local brisket I got from Mo a few weeks ago, combine it with the buckrub I got from Stan, and turn the oven to "magic."

John would've been 70 today.

I completely misread that as "backrub" and thought you had completely different plans than it seems you do! :P

Hard to imagine John even being 70 ... !

Last time I had an earache like that, I applied ice for 20 minutes ( in the form of a bag of frozen green beans ) - the cold actually opens the vessels, letting them drain, as well as being a good pain killer - just put the ice bag in something like a pillow case, single layer or double of cloth, and hopefully that'll help ! Reapply as needed.

Feel better soon, man, makes me nuts when sick people come to work & make everyone else sick ...
