Stephen Manes at Forbes seems very uncomplimentary about Windows Vista. It sounds as though some of the problems arise when you try to upgrade an existing Windows machine. It's actually not just a Vista issue; it's always a good idea to do a fresh installation of any OS on any machine when a major upgrade is at hand.

In my case, I installed Vista in a brand new container on my Mac, and it seems to work just fine. It's not the perfect operating system, by any stretch of the imagination, but it functions. As for its general lackings as outlined by Manes, let's just say I'm not planning on using Vista as my primary OS.

Meantime, I was amused today to see the Vista promo poster featuring a stock photo of people happily using an Apple laptop.
