Here's the tree that fell down, presumably yesterday afternoon when the storm was at its worst. As I thought at first glance before I left this morning, there's no damage to the house, not even to the gutter.

As far as I can tell, this is an entire dead tree that fell over; the base is still in the ground. I'll take a closer look tomorrow to see if it might be alive, and if so, try to right it, but judging by the utter lack of leaves, it probably hasn't been alive in a while.

If it's dead, I'll probably just cut it off at ground level, cut it into chunks, and bring it to the January Beer 'n Burn. :-)

Can anyone comment on how good Wheaton's Heating and Air Conditioning is? They're running a special deal for CFCU customers, so if they do a good job, I'm just as happy to give them my business as someone else. There's up to a thousand dollar rebate on installed systems (though I don't think I'm going to need nearly a complex enough system to warrant nearly that much rebate) and they apparently also offer CFCU Visa customers a free humidifier or air filter with purchase of an air conditioning unit.

While I generally want to avoid spending lots of money to cool the house, there are occasional weeks -- like this week -- where at least knocking things down to 80 degrees, and removing some humidity, would be reasonable.
