Can I vote for Tom Zarek?

Richard Hatch has generally struck me as a decent, if not great, convention guest. As Apollo in the original "Battlestar Galactica," he felt a lot of ownership to the series, and really came across as quite negative for several years, both before and during the early ramp-up to the start of the miniseries and new series.

But he's mellowed out quite a bit; more regular work, both as a recurring political activist character on the new "Battlestar Galactica" and in other minor roles that no doubt flowed from this one, can't have hurt. At Monday's cast panel, he was one of two cast members who could come after the others apparently had their flights home rearranged due to Gustav, and the other one, Tahmo "Helo" Penikett, left after half an hour. I wasn't expecting much from Hatch's solo half hour, but he delighted the crowd by answering a couple more questions and then showing some videos!

The first was a much more polished version of this trailer, based on the "All Along the Watchtower" scenes at the end of Season 3. (If you're way behind, i.e. not yet done with Season 3 episodes from last spring, never mind Season 4 from this year, do not watch this.)

He then showed the Season 3 gag reel. Great stuff. :-)
