The House that Ruth Built

There are really only a handful of legendary ballparks left, and some of those don't even still bear their proper names. I've never been a huge Yankees fan (growing up with a grandmother who was a huge Mets fan had a lot to do with that) but I've enjoyed quite a few visits to Yankee Stadium over the years.

So, tonight, after enjoying Billy Joel's "Last Play at Shea" in person at Shea Stadium, I'm watching from a distance as the Bronx Bombers play one last home game after 85 years at Yankee Stadium. I love that Reggie Jackson wandered up into the right-field outfield stands by himself, sat down, and then happily took pictures with fans when people recognized him. (No one noticed Val Kilmer a few yards away.) And I'm impressed with ESPN's use of old images and graphics. Classy all the way.
