Yesterday afternoon I'd brought up the idea of going to the wonderful pancake place that Susan and I had gone to with DJ last September, when we were in town for Linda and Wade's wedding, but I wasn't sure which place it was. They were! We went to the Log Cabin Pancake House over in Gatlinburg, right across from the Outback. (Uncharacteristically, I'd failed to notice the Outback last time.) Incredible french toast with bananas and a sauce made from cream cheese, and country-cured ham.
We then had a great drive into the mountains in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with some incredible views. I'll hope to have photos online as soon as I have a web server to have them online on. Driving around the mountains in a convertible is a great way to spend a day! This sunburn's gonna hurt, though...
Got to the Knoxville airport later than I'd have liked, at 5:30 for a 6:00 flight, but everything was smooth, we pushed back on time, and I hit Pittsburgh early. Figures, when I had a two and a half hour layover to begin with. My first flight back from Knoxville, three years ago this weekend, was a disaster. More on that story some other time.
Decent cheesesteak; my favourite eatery at the airport has changed hands, is now a Charley's, and isn't as good. It'll do. Probably about an hour until boarding, so I'm going to sign off and go read more Goblet of Fire.
