Thanks to John for pointing out this excellent post featuring eerie photo composites that blend images from World War II era Leningrad over matching scenes from St. Petersburg today. The images are really powerful.
I haven't been able to interpret everything the text says, but I did figure out that today is the 65th anniversary of the end of the Siege of Leningrad. The five links before the composite photos begin are portions of a diary written by a young boy during the siege, which lasted about two and a half years.
