The plane landed nearly an hour early, so we had to wait a few minutes for the previous plane to clear our gate. I obtained some pounds from a cash machine, had my passport stamped after I answered a few simple questions about my visit, retrieved my suitcase, and then passed through a "nothing to declare" lane that turned out to be simply an exit.
The train took a moment's thought, as I needed to figure out that I had to take one of the London Central trains to Paddington before I could look for the Picadilly Li e I knew I needed. I took the regular train instead of waiting a few minutes for an express, and I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying slowing down for a few of the towns. Hadwell is quite pretty.
I suspect the folks I'm meeting up with are out touring for the day, so my afternoon will probably consist of checking into the hotel and taking a shower. I imagine lunch will be involved, as well.[Update: The above was written on my iPhone on the train and just posted at the hotel; I figured out belatedly that the Picadilly line does go to Heathrow, and I needn't have taken multiple trains, but I simply didn't succeed in finding it. Ah well.]
