Happy rainy thoughts
As I drove onto campus this morning, and hit a puddle just right to send water cascading over the curb, I smiled at a memory from a friend's funeral. Yup, you read that right.

When Sean Killeen died, his son spoke at his funeral about his dad's warped sense of humour. As an example, he told us that his father used to bundle the kids into the car when it was rainy, drive onto campus, and aim for the puddles so he could splash the unsuspecting students walking along on the sidewalk.

Just thought I'd share that Monday morning smile with you. :-)

Uh? Isn't that "assault?"

Re: Intent

Also, incredibly mean! Isn't that awesome? :-)

I’m struck by your taking issue with my joking about violence in my humor but apparently do not have a problem with actual intent to assault. I cannot imagine bundling up my children and driving them around to giggle while I assaulted innocent people. That does not grok in my mind.

But meh, I think it’s unseemly to speak ill of the dead, so carry on!

I would never either do or condone this, but as an anecdote about a just-passed guy who spent his whole life focused on arcana about Huddie Ledbetter (aka Lead Belly) and his music, it was delightful, and it brought a smile to my face on a rainy morning.

I tend to be gentle when there are other people around (since I've been splashed before), but when the coast is clear I aim for every single one!

Given the general idiocy of the students on campus (like the ones who walk in front of moving buses and expect them to stop), I am totally in favor of this practice.

*shivers* I remember being splashed by vehicles going through puddles near the Thurston Ave bridge.
