So what foods are traditionally served at Canadian Thanksgiving gatherings?

Mostly the same at an American Thanksgiving, I think.

Turkey, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce.

My family substitutes turnip and carrots for sweet potatoes, but other families do the sweet potato thing up here.

My family also does ham as well which is typically non-traditional from most other families. Often it's a roast ham, pigs feet, pig tails, stuff like that.

My family really hasn't done a traditional "family" meal in a few years, or at least I haven't gone. Becoming more and more separated from the family.

Debbie and I are talking about a new family tradition for her and I - camping in our trailer on Thanksgiving weekend and making some manner of turkey or ham in the oven in the trailer.

This year's Thanksgiving dinner for us was steak, risotto, and creamed corn followed up by marshmallows roasted over the fire. Not really traditional, but we're just looking to start our own ways.
