This weekend's small world story
"Wait, I know you! You rescued my backpack!"

That's what David said as Scott introduced us last night at the Chanticleer, where I stopped by after the Cornell Hockey Association reception to meet up with Scott and Sofia and company to celebrate Scott's birthday. He recognized me from Facebook, where I'd sent him a message after picking up the backpack he'd left behind and bringing it somewhere safe. After finding his name inside, I figured I should let him know where it was.

He had said back in November he wanted to buy me a drink sometime to thank me, and last night he actually got to do it, thanks to our both happening to know Scott. He also added that his passport and other important stuff were in there, so he was really grateful. I'm sure he would've been reconnected with it eventually, but I was glad I could speed that up.

Also, Hank says hi. He's been bartending there for a few years.

Great story!

That's a happy little happenstance. Nice to connect that way!

Returning someone's purse yesterday ended up with a nice reward for the kids and I: we got to hold some live animals.

I found a tote bag on my sidewalk one day. It turned out to be the high school French teacher's book bag. When she stopped by to pick it up, she left me a bar of French chocolate!
