Forever plus two weeks! (214.4)
I'm kind of amused by the gnashing of teeth in response to LiveJournal offering a free two-week extension of paid user accounts in thanks for people's patience with their recent issues, among the permanent account-holders who want to be given something, too.

People are arguing "Well, our use of the service was interrupted, too." Other people are arguing, "Yes, but you didn't lose any time from your paid subscription, since yours never expires." Some have chimed in, "Well, they could do something for us, too. Maybe free tokens."

Best comment? "What did we lose? Nothing. Zip. Nada. Have a puppy or two instead," followed by a picture of two puppies.

Oh god, the horror of not being able to use LJ for a couple of days (off and on). As a permanent account holder, I don't feel I'm owed anything. There's nothing LJ could give me that I think would be worth the trade anyway (for them).

Yay, puppies! I fully agree - people buying time should be glad to have a bit more, and people buying nothing are getting another two free weeks of free use, certainly, and the puppies are a great bonus. :)

Maybe LiveJournal should offer free soothers/dummies/pacifiers virtual gifts for two weeks, for the people whining about not getting anything?

I actually see the point of the people who say the permanent accounts lost out as well (so did free accounts, for that matter - though of course, they have to suffer from "you get what you pay for") but I can't see what they could possibly offer permanent users that I would use.

I have had far too much of people making mountains out of molehills today. They can stop now. Kthanksbai.

As an aside, I like puppies.

I'm with you!

Totally ridiculous!

I think my permanent account may have been $100 when I bought it on some ridiculous special 10 years ago when they were desperate. Best $100 for a much-loved service I've ever spent. People are ridiculous.
