Usually the story would be the billionaire's house burning down...

One of the early casualties of Hurricane Irene is apparently Richard Branson's Caribbean island vacation home, which was struck by lightning and burned to the ground early yesterday morning. About 20 people were in the house when the fire broke out around 4am, but no one was hurt.

The story, though, turns out not to be the loss of a huge mansion on a 74-acre private island, or even the stored photos and notebooks the billionaire lost. The story is that Kate Winslet carried Branson's 90-year-old mother to safety. I, for one, think that's pretty cool.

As for Irene, I'm hoping she's slow enough coming up the coast that we won't get serious stormy weather in the Poconos this weekend. (Looks like she shouldn't get that far north until later Sunday.)
