Oh, the diagnosis? (206.4) - Mark's Journal
Oh, the diagnosis? (206.4)
Bronchitis. My lungs are completely clear, so it's not pneumonia, but my bronchial tubes are definitely suffering. George figures it started out as a virus, most likely a cold, and the coughing was so irritating that my mucous membranes made more to soothe the irritated lining. More mucous meant more coughing, and so on, and so on.

So, he suggested I keep taking dextromethorphan, but also prescribed a heavier-duty cough suppressant. Since he figures by now an opportunistic bacterial infection has settled in, he added an antibiotic.

I'm trying to get reasonable amounts of sleep, so I skipped a party last night after the hockey game. Oh, did I mention it's hockey season again? Yay! :-) Time to head to campus for tonight's game...

It might be a good idea to go ahead and get the pneumonia shot

Bronchitis sucks. I'm so sorry. If you are prone to respiratory issues (which you might be now after bronchitis, even if you weren't before), you really might want to get at very least the flu shot, and consider the pneumonia shot. I have to get the flu shot every year because of breathing stuff. Feel better soon, and don't overdo it or it will take much longer.
