Opening (209.8) - Mark's Journal
Opening (209.8)
A week before the freshmen arrive on campus, the language in our office gets a whole heck of a lot coarser. It's kinda entertaining.

"I just got a call from someone who wants a collage of historical residence hall photos for their first community dinner."

"Fuck no!"

Also, I may regret it, but I said yes when I was asked to drive the van on Friday evening that'll transport staff between north campus and the off-site church parking lot that we're asked to park at as an alternative to the lots around north campus for opening day. Luckily, someone else is doing the 7-9am shift.

I forget what the hours are for that shuttle run, but I recall that by that point in the day most of the move-in traffic is gone and you're really only contending with normal "rush hour" traffic (or what passes for it here). If I manage to get out of work in time, I may see you for your last run of the night. If not, it's really not that much further to walk than A Lot from where I am, and not a bad walk as long as the field is dry.

It's 5-7pm. I haven't figured out yet what I do with the van afterward, or what I do about getting to my car. Someone'll tell me eventually. :-)
