Ice, ice baby (221.8)

A reader commented on our frost and freeze warnings for the Ithaca area article that this is a day later than the historical average as compiled by the Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell.

We've had several cool days over the last few weeks, but I think I made it to this morning before I really needed the heat to kick in. I might even have gotten away with it not kicking in, since it was set to 64, and I nudged it up a degree or two when I got up and felt the chill. (The humidity had a little to do with it, too. Or are we supposed to call it dampness instead of humidity once summer turns to autumn?)

Anyway, now I'm wondering if the perennials a friend gave me a few weeks ago will be OK overnight tonight. I guess we'll find out.
