"Ford vs Ferrari" (223.5)

I was not expecting to love "Ford vs Ferrari," which I went to see yesterday afternoon at the invitation of a friend who's really into car racing. I really hadn't heard anything about the movie at all, so went in with no expectations. Really, no awareness of the plot or cast, either.

Matt Damon and Christian Bale were terrific in their roles. I'd completely forgotten that Bale was Welsh, and before it clicked who he was, I was trying to figure out if they had cast Tim Matheson, gotten him to speak with a thick British accent, and digitally de-aged him.

Anyway, great character story, great drama, and lots of great racing scenes. Highly recommended.

Also, I took the opportunity to bite on the Regal Unlimited deal, where for $23.50 per month I can see as many movies as I like, but only at Regal theaters. Similar to MoviePass, the now defunct service that let you see movies anywhere. If I see at least two movies a month, it stays worth it, and I know I'll see "The Rise of Skywalker" in a few weeks and then likely a couple of movies with acappellasinger and crew on Christmas. There were enough movies in the trailers yesterday that looked worth seeing that I'm glad I took the leap.
