Green

100 years

A century ago, at 10:35am on December 17th, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright launched the history of human flight when their heavier-than-air craft flew for twelve seconds. At 10:35am on Wednesday, December 17th, 2003, First Flight will be re-enacted at Kill Devil Hill, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on the outer banks. (Not so far from where we visited this summer.)

Chuck Yeager and Neil Armstrong will be participating in the festivities. Check out this neat page at startrek.com with info about the day's events.

Phone posts

Figured out another way those phone posts could be useful. (Mikey's injured wrist example last week is an obvious one.) I just thought of something I wanted to post while driving back to the office, and it occurred to me I could just whip out the cell phone and make the post... if I had the phone numbers with me. :-) (obligatory safe-driving reminder goes here)

Got any Hanukkah songs?

I'm trying to give the program director suggestions of Hanukkah songs we can play, along with the slate of faintly rock-related Christmas songs. All he's got now is Adam Sandler. *rolls eyes*

It's pretty out...

The heavy, fluffy snow has made a beautiful scene out of our area, with lots of snow on the tree branches and ground. Coming back from WVBR and the bank just now, the southwest sky was starting to clear as the sun was setting, so there were pink fuzzy clouds and dim, deep blue breaks through to sky.

The roads are really messy and slushy, though, people are driving like idiots, and I think I'm going to sit here until the rush hour commute is past rather than head across town in it. Plenty of fenderbenders, slipping and sliding, and such. Drive carefully, if at all.
