Found it!

I knew there must be someplace where the TomTom GPS could tell me how fast I was going, and I found it on the way home from Kari's going-away party just now. It's a bit odd, but the "Configure GPS" screen, which shows where in the sky it sees each satellite and how strong the signal is from each, shows your speed as well as your exact latitude and longitude, and your apparent heading.

Oddly, the speed reported on the GPS seems reliably a couple of MPH lower than the car's gauge. I wonder if my gauge (the standard analog spinny kind) is a little off.
