New Orleans

Go Saints!

Originally uploaded by mhaithaca.
Greetings to Kat and Chris, who are in New Orleans to watch the Saints take the field at the Superdome tonight! I'm really jealous, and will be watching on TV. Hope to spot them in the crowd. :-) And I can't wait to see their pictures.

I'm wearing the cool Cafe du Monde "Hurricane Katrina Beignet Rescue Team" t-shirt dakotagrrl brought back for me last fall. It's bright yellow, so I'm hard to miss today!

Gotta get back down there...

Continuing the fight against blood cancers

As many of you already know, my mother was diagnosed in 2000 with CLL, or chronic lymphocytic leukemia. We're lucky that she's still healthy, and since retiring has been able to devote a lot of her time and energy to advocacy and fundraising. For the last few years, members of my family have walked in the annual "Light the Night Walk" to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and I'd appreciate it if you'd considering donating to this important cause! This year's Light the Night Walk is coming up soon.

If you're interested in more information about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I've uploaded this "Fighting Blood Cancers" video to YouTube. My mother was even interviewed for the video! The Society helps to fund medical research, and provides services to help connect patients with information and the support they need.

Please make a tax-deductible donation in support of my mother's continued health! The first link below is to sponsor her walk, followed by links to sponsor my brother beeeej and my father. I plan to sponsor all three! Of course, not everyone can afford large donations, but even a few bucks will go a long way.

Did you know...?

  • Every five minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with blood cancer.
  • Every ten minutes, someone loses the fight.
  • Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children.

Please take a moment to donate today. Thank you for your help!
