New Orleans

The team I'm most interested in seeing in the Super Bowl didn't come close, but my second and third teams both bowed out of the hunt today. On the bright side, I won't have to go crazy in two weeks, rooting for both teams!

A fun outing this afternoon for tacos and Eddie Izzard! Good combination. Then BFG tonight with Bill Staines, who put on a great show as always. (He's starting to show his age, but at least he can joke about it.) Generally a decent day, and mercifully, I didn't get to watch too much of the football.

No more daily morning shifts! Back to a more "normal" schedule, though I'll probably try shifting my "normal" a little earlier. The month of early mornings should help. (Still being awake at almost 1 won't, but that's pretty much inevitable on BFG nights.)

Soup's on!

The Queen of Tarts coffee and pastry shop, in the old Coal Office building on Maple Avenue (between Collegetown and East Hill Plaza), started serving soup this weekend! I got a taste of the outstanding chicken and rice soup on Saturday (including red winter wheat and barley). Today's soup is French onion, served with fresh asiago croutons. They're open until 6pm! Stop by for some soup for dinner.
