Happy birthday, Maddy and Meredith!

Woke up early today thanks (at least in part) to a weird dream where I had to pick up Dan (not you, the one from the class of '44 who's on the CAAIA board with me). The house where I had to pick him up was recognizably 5126 Niagara Place. Those of you who know the house I mean will be glad to know it's in good shape! The people who moved in are taking good care of it, though I thought it was odd that they raised the house and yard so you now have to climb up several feet from the driveway.

Usually I have no trouble hitting the snooze button and falling asleep again at 8, but for some reason if I wake up at 6:30, it's not that easy. :-) Watched a little of the pilot episode of the new "90210," and then wandered downstairs to catch up on LiveJournal before getting showered and dressed. Gotta drop my car off for its 5,000 mile servicing.

Not delivered yet...

After looking at some of the offerings at Dick's, and contemplating a return trip with proof of Amazon's pricing so I could invoke their price-matching policy, I decided to just order a new sleeping bag and air mattress from Amazon. Yay, free two-day shipping and points toward future purchases! It's out for delivery, which is good, as I need these items for this weekend's camping trip!

I could still use the increasingly ratty sleeping bag I got when I was still at camp (after I outgrew the first one, purchased for an early overnight trip aboard USS New Jersey), and I could still use the air mattress that tends to half-deflate overnight, but I think the new ones will be nice to have.

When says the stuff's been delivered, I'll pop home to put it inside, since two big boxes sitting outside might be conspicuous. In any event, I need to swing by CFCU to grab some cash to pay for this week's delicacies from roosterhillfarm. It's starting to feel like roasting season again, so I'll look forward to roasting that gorgeous fresh chicken soon, perhaps for TV night, and the ham steak and eggs are going to be breakfast on Sunday in the Poconos. :-)

Meantime, I'm thinking about my friends on the Gulf Coast again! Glad to hear at least some of you have made it safely out of town.

There's brand-new 1-meter imagery in Google Maps for Ithaca, which I'd estimate was shot mid-summer 2007 but wasn't online last I looked. But there's a blotch of lower-resolution imagery, as far as I can tell the only one in the area, centered on our parking lot. Our buildings and the heating plant and the NYSEG substation and the Queen of Tarts are obscured, but everything outside that zone is crystal clear. The stuff on campus that I'd think might be obscured isn't. The airport is, though there's no way you could mistake the fuzzy runways for anything else, even if it weren't labeled. The other power substations I can see are also not obscured.
