Spelunking (208.2)

The historic weight data in my iPhone's Health app only went back a bit longer than the three years my scale has been automatically logging the weight for me, and my serious efforts to lose weight this spring and summer had me wondering.

Luckily, I've been logging my weight in the parenthetic at the end of many of my LiveJournal subject lines for much, much longer! So, the last several days, I've been diving back through the entries, looking at the subject lines month by month, to enter them in Apple Health. I don't need to look at the entries themselves, but of course I've been reading quite a few of them. It's interesting to explore some of what I wrote years ago. Some of it I remember well. Some vaguely. Some I have no idea about. Who was the friend I went to such-and-such with? Who was the cute girl who sent the Valentine's Day text?

Anyway, as I write this, I've gotten back to January 2008, and it looks like much of the first few months of that year I was hovering within a few pounds below or above 200. Certainly the most significant stretch below 200 that I've seen in this review.

My morning routine has been a little shaken up by the fact that I'm trying to get the dogs out earlier than usual, before my shower, before the day has had a chance to get too hot. So, I've actually forgotten to weigh myself a few mornings, including this morning. So, 208.2 is yesterday's weight.

I had been staying under 210 for almost all of July, but edged briefly above again late last week. It's a line I plan to stay under in general, and despite a couple of well-meaning suggestions, I don't think I've lost enough. As I've said elsewhere, I don't need to be skinny, but I want to get to the point where I don't think I have a gut.

I'm aiming for 200. Maybe 195, but definitely 200.
