314 miles for breast cancer

Shop for a Cure!

My friend Lisa, who many of you met at my housewarming party last fall, is walking in all eight of this year's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer events. She'll be walking a total of 314 miles in fundraising walks around the U.S., and she needs your help to meet her $25,000 fundraising goal!

It's exactly the sort of lunatic mission I can appreciate, and it's certainly for a good cause. To help support her walks, Lisa has set up a Cafepress store with lots of beautiful merchandise; various purchases result in a little, or a lot, of your money going to the charity.

Or, if you don't need any more t-shirts, clocks, calendars, or other stuff, just make a donation directly to Lisa's Avon Walk fund. Over the course of the year, she's walking in Charlotte, D.C., Boston, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, and she needs to raise at least $1,800 to participate in each walk. If she'll be in your area, please plan on stopping by to say hi and cheer on Lisa and the other walkers on the day of the walk!

I probably can't afford to donate the "buck a mile" Lisa's suggesting as a high-end donation, but I'll definitely be making a contribution to help her reach her goal! If you can donate even just a couple of bucks, or even better, a whole bunch of 'em, please do. Either way, please spread the word. Thanks!
