Pleasant night

Being dragged to a good dinner at the Boatyard Grill by a friend, followed by catching up on "Smallville" and "Lost" and "Law & Order" and "NCIS" and then enjoying last night's premiere of "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," helped counteract yesterday afternoon's nonsense.

Jerry Orbach seemed a little off for some of the TbJ premiere, or maybe it was just the entirely new cast of characters around him making his voice sound odd. (Fred Thompson as Arthur Branch is here, too; Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy had a send-off cameo, but mostly, Brisco was surrounded by new partner and ADAs.) I definitely liked Lenny's TiVo comment! I liked Kirk Acevedo as Brisco's new partner on the DA investigative team, and I wish Jerry hadn't died so we could have seen how these two would evolve together.

One more episode of "Trial by Jury" tonight with Jerry Orbach, then I suppose we see who's next and how they handled the off-screen death on-screen. More on the premiere later in mark_tv.

Very little scheduled for this weekend. Yay! No hockey; Cornell has a bye week as most of the league begins playoffs.
