Good grief...

TSA has banned all lighters aboard airplanes and inside the "sterile" (beyond the security checkpoint) area of airports.

Now, I don't smoke beyond the occasional cigar, so this is going to affect me very little, but it strikes me as a potential inconvenience to a lot of travelers, especially those who take carry-on bags instead of checking luggage. Sure, you can use matchbooks, or you can pick up a cheap Bic at your destination, but I know a lot of people with favourite lighters or a preference for lighters instead of matches.

This might also have an interesting impact on souvenir sales inside airports. I have to imagine there's a huge business in novelty Zippos emblazoned with some local image, symbol, or name, at airport gift shops.
