She was most famous for "Father Knows Best," but I got to know her first as Amanda Grayson, Spock's mother, on an episode of "Star Trek." She had a minor role as Spock's human parent, which she reprised in "Star Trek IV." That part gave her the chance to flesh out the character a little.
In between, I got to see her at a Trek convention that also featured Leonard Nimoy and Mark Lenard. It was her first, and for all I know, only con appearance. She was a self-deprecating sweetheart, astonished and moved by the warm welcome.
