Hm...

I could've sworn I had some corn starch in the kitchen!

The crock pot successfully cooked the steak and Guinness pie overnight, and I woke up to a great-smelling house. Two different sets of stew beef from two local sources, one of which I had to trim off the bone last night and the other just solid meat. Garlic, chopped onion, and hand-sliced mushrooms (no, not leeks), sauteed in a little bacon grease, then added. Baby carrots. Half a bottle of Guinness. (Drank the rest.) Raisins. Molasses. It'll rest in the refrigerator all day, and then at some point soon, I'll serve it with fresh mashed potatoes. (I probably won't bother with the pastry shell "pie" part.)
