Not sure what it was all about, but I had a serious craving for red meat all afternoon. So I came home, took the spare steak (from last time I bought steaks at the P&C) out of the freezer, and set up and started the rice cooker.

Quick-defrosted the steak, heated up some olive oil in a skillet, rubbed black and red pepper and basil into the steak. Started cooking steak in skillet, and pre-heated the oven to 450. Nuked some of the frozen broccoli I keep around, and dished out some of the leftover salad onto a plate. Applied dressing. Turned steak. Ate salad.

As I finished the salad, the steak was nice and seared on both sides, so I put it in the oven for about eight minutes. Light blinked out on the rice cooker. Put steak, large spoonful of rice, and hot broccoli on plate. Poured a little of the juice from the skillet onto the rice.


zercool had asked if I wanted to try the new Saranac Hefeweizen he'd gotten a few bottles of, so I went next door. Very tasty. Got caught on Speed, which was running on HBO. Sat. Split the large bottle of Anchor Small Beer he also had. Mmmmm.

Whoopi guest-hosting the Late Show tonight. Gotta watch!
